Foals' Yannis Philippakis clarifies comments about mental health
Foals' frontman Yannis Philippakis has taken to Twitter to clarify recent comments about mental health.
Speaking to us in an interview published yesterday (2 September), Philippakis discussed the psychological impact of touring on musicians.
The interview also discusses in depth his reaction to the current social and economic crisis in Greece, his love of London, as well as the ins-and-outs of Foals' latest long-player What Went Down.
You can find Philippakis' Tweets clarifying his comments below.
I have the upmost sympathy for sufferers of mental illness i have experienced it first & second hand the quote has been misaligned a bit

I was trying to attack the culture of complaining & ignorance around touring NOT people with mental health issues who may/may not be on tour

It was never in reference to any specific article, i should have been more nuanced in my answer though

i was trying to criticise certain people who co-opt & undermine mental health by romanticising & wallowing in the hardships of the road
— Yannis Philippakis (@YnnsPhilippakis) September 3, 2015
I hope i have made myself clear & people have trust in me to realise i wouldn't demean / belittle something as close to my heart as MH
