Foals unveil origin of "Spanish Sahara" title on track's 10th anniversary
Foals have revealed the origin of their "Spanish Sahara" track title on the song's 10th anniversary.
"Spanish Sahara" originally featured on Foals' 2010 album Total Life Forever.
Revisiting the track on its 10th anniversary yesterday (2 March), lead vocalist Yannis Philippakis shared the origin of the track title, revealing it's from an unopened cassette tape that was a gift from original Foals singer Andrew Mears.
Philippakis writes, "Today is the ten year anniversary of Spanish Sahara being released. This is the original reference for the track title, taken from a cassette my friend & original singer in Foals Andrew Mears made for me."
He adds, "I’ve never opened the tape & don’t intend to."
