Fleetwood Mac to release new songs ahead of 2013 tour
Fleetwood Mac have confirmed they will record new material ahead of their upcoming 2013 tour.
Singer Stevie Nicks told Billboard:
“We’re so completely bummed out with the state of the music industry and the fact that nobody even wants a full record. Everybody wants two songs, so we’re going to give them two songs.”
She continued:
“We wanted to have something to put out before we go out, January or February, in whatever way you do that – iTunes or something. And since nobody really cares about albums anymore, if you can come up with two or three great songs and just put them out there…people can at least hear how we sound today when it comes to actually recording.”
The band announced yesterday that they will return for live dates next year, with the tour marking the 45th anniversary of the group’s debut record.
The reformed group are set to travel the U.S during April, May and June, beginning in Columbus, Ohio and finishing up in Detroit.
The news saw rumours begin to circulate that the band would be headlining next year’s Glastonbury festival.
