Five Day Forecast: Diet Cig
New Paltz "slop-pop" twosome Diet Cig erupted during 2015 thanks to their addictive rocky sounds, and they're poised to dominate our ears during the forthcoming year.
Sidling up alongside lo-fi indie/rock acts like Girlpool and Los Campesinos!, the duo share rough-around-the-edges noises that ooze charm and wit. It's funny, endearing, and relatable music that'll have you on your feet and moving in no time at all - we have brief chat with Diet Cig as they prepare to headline Thursday night at next week's Five Day Forecast, our new music festival.
Tickets for the Five Day Forecast are on sale now.

Could you introduce yourself for those that might not be familiar with what you do?
Hey! We’re Alex and Noah, aka Diet Cig, and we are a two-piece slop-pop band. We write songs that are short, fun, and energetic, and the energy carries into our live set. We want to have a huge cathartic dance party with everyone at our shows!
What do you try to do with your music and how do you achieve this?
We just try to have fun and be honest with our music, it’s simple and very personal. We try to stay as genuine as possible and really give our all in our live sets, giving as much energy as we’re hoping to get: all of it!
Can you tell us what musical and non-musical influences have shaped your sound?
There are so many amazing inspiring bands that have influenced our music including Frankie Cosmos, All Dogs, Best Coast, and Hop Along. These bands have amazing songwriters and they’re all lead by strong females! So sick.
What should people expect from your Five Day Forecast show?
People should expect a fun, energy filled, whirlwind of set! Short songs, slick dance moves, jumping off amps, and out-of-breath choruses. We’ll just be up there have a blast!
What are you working on now/next?
We’re currently writing the mythical ~debut LP~ so hopefully it’ll be out sometime 2016!
How is 2016 shaping up? What are you looking forward to this year?
2016 looks like it’s going to be great, involving a lot of touring and shredding! I just bought a travel scrabble set so we are SO ready to get on the road and get a triple word score : )
