Fiona Apple throws fan out of gig for telling her to “get healthy”
Seeing Fiona Apple live is never boring but things took a bizarre turn at the singer’s show in Portland last night (3 October) when she allegedly evicted a fan who commented on her appearance.
According to a live report from Stereogum, a member of the crowd shouted at the American musician “Fiona! Get healthy! We want to see you in 10 years!”. Apple, clearly, took the comments as snide rather than well-meaning.
The review continues: “Apple, understandably, looked aghast, then hurt, then furious. She unleashed a torrent of vitriol at the unseen member of the peanut gallery. “I am healthy! Who the fuck do you think you are? I want you to get the fuck out of here. I want the house lights on so I watch you leave!”.”
The house lights were reportedly then turned on until the audience member departed, with the gig continuing its encore after the rocky interruption.
“It’s a shame then that the show is going to forever be colored by its last awful 10 minutes,” the reviewer concludes. ”Hopefully, the words she will remember most are the ones coming from members of the audience that urged her to not let one bastard get her down.”
