Father John Misty's new lullaby will not help you get to sleep
Father John Misty has unveiled a brand new song called "Maybe, Sweet One, You Won't Have Nightmares Tonight".
Although the quaint music box tinkles and warm Tillman coo are in abundance, there are also malicious drones, creepy samples, howls, screams, agonised screeches, and lyrics about maggots, loose teeth, and detached penises.
Misty explained the track's origins on Soundcloud: "I was asked to write a lullaby for Stephen Colbert as part of a skit for the show. Unfortunately the bit was cut for time/content."
Although this new offering didn't make the final cut of the episode, Misty's performance of "Holy Shit" did.
Misty's latest LP - I Love You, Honeybear - is out now on Bella Union.
