Fat White Family's secret late-night End of the Road show ended by stage invasion
Following their packed-out show earlier in the evening under the Big Top, Fat White Family took to the stage again just around midnight for a surprise show in the Tipi tent.
Once again the punks were faced with a packed audience, and they responded in their own inimtable love-them-or-hate-them fashion by launching straight into their set, and the seething undercurrent present in the London six-piece's music passed on to the crowd who responded with a mix of joy and uncontained dancing and pogoing.
However, as the band reached their fourth song and singer Lias Saudi had stripped down to a bare chest, a well-dressed stage invader/hype man whipped the crowd into a frenzy and slowly but surely the band was joined on stage by crowd members - who were swiftly and unceremoniously chucked off stage by rather handily-placed security staff. The Fat Whites of course responded in kind, and between lapping up the chaos and throwing instruments to the stage floor it was hard to tell if this was all part of the plan, or whether it really was a set ended prematurely by the stage invasion.
Either way, it was a case of job done and the band briefly took the adulation before being escorted offstage and disappearing into the night.
