Fans can donate directly to artists via Spotify's new Artist Fundraising Pick feature
Spotify has today launched its new feature Artist Fundraising Pick, which allows fans to donate directly to artists on their Spotify profiles.
Last month, Spotify teased the feature in their COVID-19 update, and revealed they were planning to add a donation optionb to artists' profiles.
Today (22 April), that feature has officially been launched, and it's called the Artist Fundraising Pick, and it allows artists to add links to e-wallet services including Cash App, GoFundMe, and PayPal.me so fans can donate directly to artists, their band, or touring crew.
Spotify have also allowed artists to link to verified organisations supporting the music industry during the coronavirus pandemic, including Help Musicians, MusiCares, PRS Foundation, and other global organisations.
Marshmello, who is currently fundraising for MusiCares, says, "So many of us have been affected by the COVID-19 virus, and now more than ever we need to stand together and help each other. MusiCares is helping all working musicians, producers, songwriters, engineers and so many. Let’s all do our part to help those who need it most!"
