Fallulah smoulders on her cover of "Light My Fire" for the all-female Instant Love project
Copenhagen's Fallulah, a long-time favourite of Best Fit, has taken on a track by The Doors as part of the ongoing Instant Love project.
Instant Love is an on-going project where both emerging and established female musicians reinterpret classic love songs originally sung by men about women, reimagined and without changing the gender. Fallulah has covered "Light My Fire" for the series, an idea from Allison Zatarain and Richard Gottehrer at Instant Records who wanted to hear famous love songs sung between women for the first time.
Fallulah slows down "Light My Fire" to torch-song pace, and the Dane's soft voice is matched by piano, baritone guitar and trembling block percussion. It's a gorgeous reimagining of a classic, and it loses none of its passion.
Other highlights from the project include Erika Spring's (Au Revoir Simone) version of the Donavan classic "Colours" and Nicole Atkins' cover of Ryan Adams’ "Amy". Instant Love is a celebration of breaking down gender barriers, feminism and the LGBTQ community, and more music is expected in 2018.
