Fake Laugh unveils new track "Near You"
Fake Laugh is back with "Near You", a third preview of his forthcoming album Dining Alone.
"Near You" lands after previous singles "If You Don't Wanna Know" and "Novelty Song".
Fake Laugh, aka Kamran Khan, says of the new offering, "This is quite an old song, which I started writing a few years ago when I had a dizzying crush on someone that I hadn’t known for very long. It’s about the feeling of just not knowing what to do with yourself in the company of that person, and in the quest for their affection, acting like an absolute fool."
Khan adds, "It was fun to revisit this song and decorate it with some more interesting instrumentation than I probably would have done a few years ago. I’m not sure if it’s the type of song I’ll write again but I always knew it would be released at some point because that chorus just simply pops...If I may so myself."
Dining Alone will follow on from Fake Laugh's 2017 self-titled debut, and was recorded with producer Louis Milburn.
Khan says of the album's title, "The act of dining alone is either awkward and embarrassing or honourable and enjoyable, depending on who you ask."
