Facebook has launched a TikTok-like app called BARS, which allows users, including aspiring rappers, to make 60-second rap clips over free professional beats.

Facebook's New Product Experimentation team has launched new app BARS, an app aimed at those who enjoy rap music or want to try rapping themselves.

The app, currently only available to select iOS users in the US, allows people to make 60-second clips of them rapping over professional beats available on the app, and includes tools such as auto-tuning and a rhyming dictionary.

As reported by PCMag, the app allows users to select their rap experience - Beginner, Intermediate, or Challenge mode - and tailors the tool options based on their experience. Beginners will have access to the rhyming dictionary, while Challenge mode users will be able to access the Freestyle mode which provides some target words for rappers to weave into their rap.

According to Social Media Today, the NPE team said of BARS, "Audio production tools can be complicated, expensive and difficult to use. With BARS, you can select one of our professionally-created beats, write lyrics and record yourself dropping bars. BARS auto-suggests rhymes as you’re writing to keep your flow going. You can also jump into Challenge mode and freestyle with auto-suggested word cues. Choose from a variety of audio and visual filters to take your creations to the next level."

BARS is currently only available to select iOS users in the US. Stay up to date and sign up to the waiting list via their Instagram.
