Ezra Koenig says Vampire Weekend "almost have an album’s worth of songs"
Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig has given an update on their new record, saying they "almost have an album’s worth of songs".
The update on Vampire Weekend's new music came from the band's Ezra Koenig during his appearance on Mark Hoppus’ After School Radio show on Apple Music Hits.
During the interview, Koenig confirmed they've been working away on new songs, and spent some time recording in the UK before going back to LA.
Pitchfork reports that Koenig said, "I think we’re… I’m always hesitant to…. Sometimes I oversell how close we are with the record because who really knows? But we almost have an album’s worth of songs. And, as you well know, you could tinker with a song forever; change the arrangement, change the lyrics, whatever. But, in that sense we’re close. I have no idea how long it’ll take to finish, but we’re feeling really good about the new material. So, yeah, a lot of studio time to come after the holidays."
Back in July Koenig contributed a new song to the second season of I Think You Should Leave.
