Ex-Fleetwood Mac member Bob Welch commits suicide
It has been reported that ex-Fleetwood Mac member Bob Welch has been found dead at his Nashville home.
This news comes in via Reuters, also reported on by the folks over at The 405.
Reuters speakof “an apparent suicide” and suggest that the musician had “left a suicide note”.
Police confirm that the cause of death was “a single gunshot wound to the chest” and that the 66 year old had been suffering undisclosed health issues.
Stevie Nicks released the following statement regarding the news:
“He was an amazing guitar player – he was funny, sweet – and he was smart – I’m so very sorry for his family and for the family of Fleetwood Mac – so, so sad,”
Welch was a founding member of the group and also enjoyed a successful solo career of his own after his depature from the band in 1975.
