Everything Everything unveil video for new single "Distant Past"
Everything Everything have revealed "Distant Past" the first single from upcoming third record Get To Heaven.
In true Everything Everything fashion, the lyrics are predictably cryptic, but fortunately, the band's Jonathan Higgs has given an explanation: "Distant Past is about primal human nature, and no matter how far we progress in our civilisations, we can never escape it."
They mash together cowboy axe licks, encrusted in dust, dancefloor keys, funky pop rhythms and Higgs' signature rapid falsetto; there's moments of rap, house, indie rock, synthpop and nu-disco in this genre-bending amalgam, and it bodes well for loyal fans and EE newcomers. This is a clear-cut evolution from previous LP Arc, moving ever-closer to the mighty pop they hinted at before.
Get To Heaven will be released 15 June on RCA Records.
The band have also unveiled two new shows: they'll play London's Oval Space on 9 April, and then perform a hometown show at Manchester's Academy 2 on 10 April. Tickets are on sale now from here.
