Eve Owen unveils tender new track "Mother"
Eve Owen has shared new single "Mother", a fourth preview of her forthcoming Aaron Dessner-produced debut album Don’t Let The Ink Dry.
"Mother" is the fourth and final track to be shared before the arrival of Don't Let The Ink Dry, following earlier singles "Blue Moon", "So Still For You" and "She Says".
Owen says of her latest offering, "I wanted the energy of this song, sonically, to really embody a coming of age story, a stirring adrenaline-fuelled crescendo. "Mother" is about a big energy, a big being always there to hold you and heal you when needed - whether that being is in your dreams, in music, in your family, in ideas, in who you are, in what you want to be. This energy never leaves if you keep it close by. It’s saying if you fall, there will always be someone or something to pick you back up again, so you can jump and live and explore without hesitation and fear. The song is about having an internal mother and trusting your gut."
Don't Let The Ink Dry is produced by The National's Aaron Dessner. Owen says of the process, "What I enjoyed most was that there were no rules. I could say or do whatever I wanted without feeling judged, which is the most wonderful feeling when you’re working creatively with someone."
Dessner adds, "We ultimately recorded more than 40 songs over three years, and this first album feels like a collection of them. I enjoyed the process immensely. We felt free to imagine and chase whatever sounds or arrangements inspired us. In the middle of that time, she helped me make a National song called "Where Is Her Head", which she fearlessly sang lead on. There’s so much Eve is capable of and I’m grateful to know her."
