Enigmatic producer A.K. Paul remixes James Vincent McMorrow
A.K. Paul, the reclusive-but-not-in-comparison-to-brother-Jai producer, has remixed James Vincent McMorrow's "Rising Water".
The original version of "Rising Water" appears on McMorrow's recent record We Move.
Writing about the remix (the first Paul's ever done), McMorrow explains: “A.K. is an incredible musician and 'Landcruisin'' is a huge record; I love the work he's done with Nao, I'm a big fan. And it turned out great, he said to me after it was done that he's never done something like this before, lifted an entire vocal from an already written and produced song and then flipped the chord structure and premise of the song. But he nailed it, it's gone from being this propulsive new wave energy to a much more laid back rhythm, the vocal lands totally different, it's beautifully done.”
Mr. Paul and his brother have been elusive since the launch of their Paul Institute project back in March. We got the wonderful "Landcruisin'", but after that the hubbub died down.
