Empty Moth Club venue to host Malady, Stella Talpo and more for first edition of Spotlight Festival
Next month Spotlight Festival will host its first event, which will see four British acts perform for the livestream festival from the empty Moth Club in Hackney.
Spotlight Festival originated in Guadalajara, Mexico during the COVID-19 pandemic, and started to showcase emerging artists from all over the world with short interviews shared via Instagram TV.
The online project has since evolved into a independent virtual festival, and the first edition of Spotlight Festival will present four British acts performing from the empty Moth Club venue in Hackney.
Malady, Stella Talpo, Bamily and Attawalpa have been confirmed for the event, which will be livestreamed to Bandcamp Live.
A Spotlight Festival spokesperson told Hackney Gazette of the event, "The purpose of Spotlight hasn’t wavered in its original objective: to give up-and-coming artists a chance to not only talk about their mutual love for music but to also revitalise the music scene after such a difficult year."
The show will be sponsored by Goose Island Beer Company, who have actually brewed an exclusive IPA called 'Spotlight' for the gig. As Hackney Gazette notes, ticket holders will be sent a 10% discount code to use in Goose Island’s web store, as well as 10% discount on the Spotlight beer available for collection or delivery (in London via Deliveroo and Uber Eats) from Goose Island London Brewpub, in Shoreditch High Street. All proceeds from the Spotlight IPA will go directly to Help Musicians.
As the Spotlight Festival takes place on Valentine's Day, Goose Island are also teaming with Nanny Bill's on a Valentine's DIY Burger Kit for two. Cut off for delivery is later today (11 February), and can be delivered anywhere in London within the M25. Find out more.
