Empress Of unveils icy-cool electro rework of Katy Perry's "Hot N Cold"
Empress Of, aka producer/singer Lorely Rodriguez, has shared an electrifying rendition of Katy Perry's early belter "Hot N Cold".
Speaking to Rookie Mag about her choice of cover, Rodriguez says: "I love her. She’s brilliant! I was thinking of songs [to record for the theme], and I was like Oh, I’ll do Johnny Cash. Then I thought about doing something direct, to the point, and really fun to cover. As an artist, I’m generally drawn to very obvious things, hence calling my album Me. This is my first [cover[ ever! It was nice to remove the pressure of personal attachment and just have fun with a cover."
The cover follows "Kitty Kat" and "Water Water" in showcasing the up-and-comers blinding electro-pop talents.
Me is out via Terrible/XL on 11 September.
