Elton John's Apple Music show reaches 100
Elton John's Rocket Hour show on Apple's internet radio station Beats 1 has celebrated its 100th edition with an hour of music including Perfume Genius, Valerie June and Travis Scott.
“I should get a letter from the Queen for the Rocket Hour reaching 100 shouldn’t I? I’ll write one myself," said John. "It’s just something I look forward to every week, putting these shows together and hearing the new music, putting it with the old. Because music is my life, without music my life is nothing, apart from my family of course. But music inspires me, and doing these shows inspires me because listening to new music is something I really really love, and putting it with great old stuff makes it even better."
Among the highlights of his time on air, John chose Damian Rice's "Volcano": "I often get asked, if you could chose a song you wish you had written, what could it be. Well, there are so many I wish I had written, and this next song is one of those songs. It’s just a tremendous song, and a tremendous record."
