El Perro Del Mar shares new video for "In The Woods"
El Perro Del Mar has revealed the video for last year's "In The Woods" ahead of her next record KoKoro.
The Stockholm-based musician (aka Sarah Assbring) recently unveiled the album's lead single "Breadandbutter".
Connor Hurley has created the video for "In The Woods", which appeared on the deluxe edition re-release Assbring's self-titled debut. Hurley says of clip:
“I was scouting along the Gulf Coast when I first drove through Biloxi, Mississippi, a 24-hour gambling town still recovering in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. When I learned of a dwindling Amish community nearby, I knew I had to shoot there and was inspired to create a film that captured a struggle for identity amid the wild polarities of American life.”
Speaking about KoKoro in a press release, Assbring says:
“I felt compelled to go back to the clearness and poetic minimalism of my first album. I've also been very set on writing pop songs similarly to the way I did back then. As simple as that but naturally with a twist of some sort. To my surprise, one day I was sent one of the most heartachingly beautiful videos I've ever seen set to 'In The Woods' one of those old songs. The extraordinary talented filmmaker Connor Hurley's epic take on my song 'In The Woods' not only is a piece of art in itself, it also manages to tie together a then and now - the idea of the innocent past with the more experienced and corrupt now.”
KoKoro is due out later this year via The Control Group.
