El Perro Del Mar returns with "Breadandbutter" from new LP Kokoro
Gothenberg's El Perro Del Mar has revealed "Breadandbutter", a brand new single/video from upcoming sixth LP Kokoro.
El Perro Del Mar - aka Sarah Assbring - last released an album (Pale Fire) in 2012, and has only occasionally dipped back into music since.
Speaking to Vogue about the video/track, Assbring says: “One of my absolute clearest aims was to distance myself from the kind of common Western sound of today. I just feel like I need something that stands out, something that makes me stop and say, ‘What is this? I don’t recognize this.’”
Inspired by “totally only listening to Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Indian pop music for the last three years", the song sees Assbring "finding a means to communicate and find solidarity among people.”
Speaking about Kokoro, the record from which "Breadandbutter" is taken, Assbring adds: "We wanted to create a culture of our own, both costume-wise and ritual-wise. I think of it as a Dadaistic way of expressing a wish of coming together - just pure and incorrupt beauty, as in a dreamlike state. A beauty orgy.”
