Eels frontman to be honoured with Freedom of the City of London

Here’s a news story we never thought we’d be posting. But really, Eels frontman Mark Oliver Everett is actually set to be honoured with the Freedom of the City of London.
The Freedom of the City of London is one of the oldest traditional ceremonies and its previous recipients include Winston Churchill, Princess Diana, Nelson Mandela, Bob Geldof and more. “E”, however, will be a rarity as a modern musician.
Everett will accept the honour at London’s Guildhall on Thursday 24 July. Eels play the Barbican that same night.
