Edward Sharpe to release new album in July, plot summer tour
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros will be releasing their third album on 23 July, the follow-up to last year’s Here.
The band recorded material for both their previous and forthcoming album in the same session, a cornucopia of material which came after the band spent a few years bathing in adoration and ruling the festival circuit.
Alex Ebert said in a press release of the yet-untitled album, “In the middle of the recording process we realized we were essentially making a double album. Being four years since our last album, the writing explored a wide variety of subject and sound, as it turned out we had a lot to say.”
About the decision to separate the releases, Ebert continued: “Instead of putting it out all at once, we found that two different albums seemed to be forming. Alone these albums are albums. Together these albums express a varying and so relatively living portrait of our lives.”
Coinciding with their mid-summer release is a sunshine-filled tour full of festival appearances and brother-loving, rootsy-folk goodness.
