A rare copy of Ed Sheeran's first demo album that he tried to prevent people from hearing is going up for auction.

One copy of Sheeran's Spinning Man demo album was recently found in a drawer years after it was gifted to friends of Sheeran's relatives by the musician when he stayed at their house while busking in his teenage years.

The Times reports that the album features songs that Sheeran wrote and recorded at just 13 years old.

Sheeran previously wrote about the album in his 2014 book Ed Sheeran: A Visual Journey. He revealed in the book that the demo album title was "named after a picture that my dad had". He also said that most of the songs on the LP were written about his first love named Claire.

He added, "I burnt the CDs myself and made the covers. There were 14 songs, and they were all songs that rhymed. One lyric went: "I’m a typical average teen if you know what I mean"."

Sheeran also revealed that he kept 19 of the 20 copies, "There are probably 20 copies of Spinning Man in existence, and I have 19 of them. I don’t want anyone else to get hold of a copy."

The opening bid on the copy of Spinning Man is £1,500. The CD is expected to fetch around £10,000.
