Ed O'Brien of Radiohead to release solo record later this year
Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien hopes to release his debut solo record later this year.
Back in 2016, O'Brien revealed that he was planning to start working on his solo record, which was inspired by his time in Brazil.
During his recent appearance on The Pedal Show, O'Brien revealed that he's planning to release the record by September 2019, and has been working with producers Flood and Catherine Marks.
The guitarist also revealed that he had been working with a full live band, consisting of Dave Okumu, bassist Nathan East, and drummer Omar Hakim, who featured on David Bowie's "Let's Dance".
O'Brien revealed he'll be sticking to acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and bass, and that his record would include other guest artists.
Comparing his solo work to Radiohead, O'Brien said, "You’ll make a little connection. There will be textures. There’s quite a lot of depth it. It’s a little bit magical realist, slightly psychedelic, a lot of colour."
Just before releasing his Suspiria soundtrack last year, Radiohead's Thom Yorke also confirmed he was working on a "politically charged" new solo record, and revealed, "It’s very electronic, but different to anything I’ve done till now."
