Radiohead's Ed O'Brien, aka EOB, shares eight-and-a-half-minute new single "Brasil"
Radiohead's Ed O'Brien is back with "Brasil", an eight-and-a-half-minute song released under his EOB moniker.
Having announced the single earlier this week, EOB has shared the expansive new single in full, complete with a short film directed by Andrew Donoho to accompany the new track.
"Brasil" is O'Brien's second single under his EOB moniker, after October's debut solo single "Santa Teresa".
The new single is written by O'Brien, and features Omar Hakim on drums and Radiohead bandmate Colin Greenwood on bass.
Speaking about the new single, O'Brien says, ""Brasil" is a state of mind, not a place or time. H.P. Lovecraft, Kubrick, and Junji Ito have created some of my favorite sci-fi narratives, but I’ve always wanted to reinterpret their horrific premises into a more poetic and optimistic notion. What if an alien or higher being were to come to earth to help us achieve a greater existence, and not to destroy us? What would it look like if everyone on earth shared thoughts, experiences, and actions? The theory that humans, as a species, actually represent one large, singular organism has always fascinated me, and I wanted to explore that concept visually through a variety of different character perspectives, mediums, and impressionistic visual effects. All these layers and ideas culminated into our narrative for "Brasil"."
O'Brien's debut album is yet to be announced officially, but is produced by Flood, and will feature contributions from Laura Marling, Adrian Utley, Nathan East, Glenn Kotche, and many others.
