East India Youth shares new track "Turn Away"
East India Youth has shared "Turn Away", which joins up with "Carousel" in previewing his new LP Culture Of Volume.
With mismatched vocal and drum rhythms, East India Youth (AKA William Doyle) creates sense of anxiety in the opening bars of "Turn Away", following a similar route to his sophomore LP's lead track. As the swoon-laden chorus hits however, any sense of malaise or unease vanishes, to be replaced by an overwhelming, cleansing euphoria; it's a poppier affair than most of what we've heard in the past, but it remains distinctly Doyle due to mechanical electronics, serene pads and an unparalleled depth.
Culture Of Volume is due out 6 April via XL Recordings.
