Dua Lipa awarded title of honorary ambassador of Kosovo
While visiting Kosovo for Sunny Hill Festival over the weekend, Dua Lipa was awarded the title of honorary ambassador of Kosovo.
Despite growing up in London, Dua Lipa, who has Kosovo Albanian parents, has been named an honorary ambassador of Kosovo, a title awarded to her by the Republic of Kosovo president Vjosa Osmani.
Dua Lipa was given an ambassador medal and certificate last Friday (5 August) while in Kosovo for Sunny Hill Festival, which is organised by Dua Lipa and her father Dukagjin Lipa.
On Instagram, Dua Lipa wrote of the achievement, "Yesterday afternoon I was awarded the title of Honourary Ambassador of Kosovo by our Madame President Vjosa Osmani. It’s an honour and a privilege to be able to represent my country all over the world and to continue my work and efforts globally to see that we leave our mark and make a difference. The youth of Kosovo deserves the right to visa liberalisation, freedom to travel and to dream big. Thank you."
Dua Lipa also shared the invitation from the president, who wrote, "Aside from being a world-class and a once-in-a-generation musician, you are also a role model for many girls and women across the world as a forthright and conscientious activist. But above all, what you have done for the people of Kosovo, in raising awareness of the Republic of Kosovo is unmatched and truly invaluable."
