Doves announce first album in 11 years with lead single "Prisoners"
Doves have finally announced details of their long-awaited fifth album The Universal Want, alongside sharing the lead single "Prisoners".
The group returned with their first new song in 11 years "Crousels" last month, and have today (9 July) followed it up with details of The Universal Want and the second single from the album, "Prisoners".
Drummer and vocalist Andy Williams says of their latest outing, "It’s about continually chasing something and not being satisfied when you eventually get it. You’ve got ‘that thing’ and you find you’re not any happier. Be careful what you wish for."
The Universal Want will be Doves' first album since 2009's Kingdom of Rust.
Guitarist Jez Williams says of the LP, "It’s definitely got the stamp of ‘the time’ all over it. Everything on the album is an echo. It’s an echo of what we were going through at the time. Getting back together, the Royal Albert Hall and everything else."
