Donald Glover says his Because the Internet album is "the rap OK Computer"
During a new interview conducted by himself, Donald Glover called his Childish Gambino album Because the Internet "the rap OK Computer".
Yesterday (7 April) Interview published a new interview with Donald Glover, which saw him answer his own questions after claiming "the questions are usually the same" in other innterviews.
As well as discussing new music, cancel culture, the internet, Mr. and Mrs. Smith and more, Glover also spoke about criticism, and asked himself if he regrets making Camp. Glover replied, "Not at all. I like parts of that album and I learned so much. Mostly that concept doesn’t outshine content. But when they’re in equilibrium, it’s extremely potent. I don’t think I was clear on that album, and the songs weren’t catchy enough for me. Made it feel like novelty. Because I wouldn’t bop any of the songs in the car now. Maybe a couple of the hooks. But it allowed me to make Because the Internet, which I think has proven itself to be a classic."
On whether he regards Because the Internet as a classic, Glover said to himself, "It’s the rap OK Computer. It’s prescient in tone and subject matter and it’s extremely influential. And I know no one’s gonna give me that until I’m dead. But it’s true."
Glover also asked himself what he's working on at the moment, to which he responded, "Just making sure Atlanta’s good. Working on a project with Dominique Fishback, Damson Idris. Chloe Bailey, too."
