Diplo will sample one of Spice Girls' biggest hits for a new single this summer
The Spice Girls have given Diplo the go-ahead to sample one of their biggest singles for a summer single.
According to The Sun, Mel C, Mel B, Emma Bunton, and Geri Horner have given the US DJ the green light to use one of their "best known" tracks for his new single.
Their source told The Sun, "Diplo is a big Spice Girls fan and wants to introduce their music to a new generation. There is so much renewed interest in the girls ahead of the tour and he has reworked one of their best-known songs for a 2019-style tune. The girls gave their approval after hearing it and are all excited about its release."
Diplo has always had a soft spot for the Spice Girls. Back in 2017 NME reported he played "Wannabe" track as part of Major Lazer's Glastonbury set, and last month he teamed up with Halsey and John Mayer to cover the track, which was streamed on John Mayer's Instagram Live.
Earlier this month Diplo announced the debut album with his supergroup LSD (Labrinth, Sia, and Diplo), and shared new single "No New Friends".
In February he released his Europa EP, which featured "New Shapes" with BBC Sound OF 2019 winner Octavian.
