Did Lollapalooza accidentally confirm the return of Daft Punk?
Daft Punk could be about to embark on their first tour in a decade - if new information from Reddit is to be believed.
The band have been rumoured to headline Glastonbury 2017 - although a different electro outfit from Europe might be doing that - but there's been nothing concrete... until now.
A user on Reddit has uncovered some tantalising info - chiefly that Lollapalooza have an artist page for Daft Punk. It's only small, but given the page was built in February this year, it looks like the masked electro warlocks have been confirmed in some capacity - unless the page has been built to throw people off the scent of the real headliners. Or maybe that's what they want us to think. Who knows? It's interesting, though.
Also interesting is the fact that Daft Punk and Jay Z have an artist bio together. What does it all mean?
Fucking nothing, apparently. A Reddit user named CoS_Alex (maybe Consequence Of Sound founder Alex Young?) says: "I wouldn't count on it. A well-placed source says they aren't taking offers for 2017."
Looks like we're gonna have to wait to find out the truth.
Despite playing one-off concerts, Daft Punk haven't 'toured' in the traditional sense since 2007. Before that, it was 1997. If they continue their streak of touring once a decade, then the rumours could well be true...
Daft Punk's latest LP Random Access Memories was released in 2013. The secretive French duo recently worked with The Weeknd on his new single "Starboy".
