Devon Welsh and Arcade Fire's Win Butler pay tribute to Alan Vega with new songs
Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler and former Majical Cloudz member Devon Welsh have both shared musical tributes to the late icon Alan Vega.
Vega, an electronic pioneer with Suicide, died aged 78 over the weekend. Read the full statement from his family. You can read an obituary on The Guardian.
As well as his work with Suicide, Vega produced visual art and collaborated with vast number of musicians, including Ric Ocasek, Alex Chilton, and Lydia Lunch. Vega's impact is felt across the musical world, and two of those inspired by his works have shared new tracks in his honour.
Welsh revealed "Me And Alan Vega", which he says is a "song 'about' him [from] 2011".
Meanwhile, Arcade Fire's Butler - as his alter-ego DJ Windows98 - shared a cover of "Dream Baby Dream" titled "K33p Ur Dr34ms Win98". As Stereogum note, Butler has covered the track before - with Arcade Fire and Talking Heads' David Byrne.
