Dermot Kennedy raises nearly $300,000 for charity through performances in New York and Ireland
It's been revealed that Dermot Kennedy has raised nearly $300,000 for Pieta, Focus Ireland and MusiCares through performances in Ireland and New York.
Over the space of a week, Kennedy played Dublin's 3arena and performed in the streets of New York.
He started the fundraising event with a surprise, solo acoustic busking performance at NYC's Washington Square Park on 11 December, with donations going to MusiCares, and continued his fundraising performances with two nights at Dublin's 3Arena on 13 and 14 December to raise money for Pieta and Focus Ireland.
Speaking about his NYC performance on socials, Kennedy said, "One of my favourite things I’ve ever done in my life…. It was a beautiful energy. My first time playing in the street in about eight years. It was never like this though…."
Thank you so so much to everyone who came down to Washington Sq on Saturday and to everyone that watched from home - your donations raised over $7k for @MusiCares which is incredible. Can't wait to do this again https://t.co/UlUvDLz1bM pic.twitter.com/JHRrUc6qom
