Deradoorian shares dreamy new single "Monk's Robes"
Deradoorian is back with "Monk's Robes", the second taster of her forthcoming album Find The Sun.
"Monk's Robes" arrives after last month's lead outing "Saturnine Night".
Deradoorian says of her new single, "I’ve heard so many people say ‘I want to escape to the mountain and live alone because life is so fucking painful sometimes'. And that's not really the way to do it either. You need to be isolated, you need to learn about yourself, but you can't really stay there. You also need to integrate. You need to do both."
Find The Sun will follow on from Deradoorian's 2017 mini-album Eternal Recurrence. The album, which was due for release on 22 May, has been delayed until 18 September due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The tracks that make up Find The Sun were conceptualised during a summer spent in the Rockaways with friend and percussionist Samer Ghadry. Deradoorian, Ghadry, and collaborator Dave Harrington took the tracks and finished them at California's Panoramic House studio.
Deradoorian says of the tracks, "Overall, a lot of these songs are about trying to reach yourself - how to be your most brilliant self, because we come from a culture that doesn't actually support this. We are so deeply programmed to obey societal boundaries that we don't even know the power we contain within."
