Decision on whether Latitude 2021 will go ahead or not expected to be made by end of the week
Following yesterday's lockdown exit delay announcement, Latitude boss Melvin Benn has said in a statement that a decision on whether this year's festival will go ahead or not is expected to be made by the end of the week.
Yesterday (14 June) UK PM Boris Johnson made the announcement that the final lockdown restrictions will not be eased for another four weeks, pushing back from the original date of 21 June until 19 July.
Following the announcement, Latitude's Melvin Benn uploaded a statement to the festival's socials responding to the news.
Latitude 2021 is due to take place from 22-25 July, with headline sets from Wolf Alice, The Chemical Brothers, Bastille and Bombay Bicycle Club, and Benn's statement confirmed that they "haven't given up hope just yet".
Benn wrote in the statement, "If you'll allow us just a little more time, we're going to spend the next few days looking at the information and speaking to the relevant government departments to work out what it means for the festival. Rest assured, as soon as we know for definite if we can or can't go ahead, we will tell you. We expect that will be by the end of this week."
The statement also added that if this year's Latitude can't go ahead, "all ticketholders will be able to roll over their tickets to 2022 or be able to claim a refund."
