Death Cab For Cutie announce 10th album with first single "Roman Candles"
Death Cab For Cutie have returned with news of their 10th album Asphalt Meadows, and have released the first single "Roman Candles".
"Roman Candles" is the first taster of Death Cab For Cutie's new album, and is produced by John Congleton.
The band say of the new track, ""Roman Candles" is about the crippling, existential dread that goes hand in hand with living in a nervous city on a dying planet. And that the only way to be in the moment is to let it all go."
Lead vocalist Benjamin Gibbard adds of the lyrics, "The lyrics were cobbled from a couple of different songs dealing with my general sense of anxiety; the feeling that the fabric that weaves a functioning society together was crumbling during the pandemic."
Asphalt Meadows will follow Death Cab For Cutie's 2018 album Thank You For Today.
Back in February Gibbard curated the Yoko Ono tribute album Ocean Child: Songs of Yoko Ono, and it featured Death Cab For Cutie's cover of Ono's "Waiting For The Sunrise".
