De La Soul air majestic new album preview "Royalty Capes"
Pioneering hip hop trio De La Soul are debuting new single "Royalty Capes" on Best Fit ahead of next month's new album.
And The Anonymous Nobody is the group's eighth record and their first since 2004 - though they've hardly been quiet in that time. The album's a who's who of talent, with guests including Damon Albarn, Snoop Dogg, Little Dragon, David Byrne, Usher, 2 Chainz, Estelle, and more lining up alongside Posdnuos, Dave, and Maseo . The Darkness' Justin Hawkins even crops up.
"Royalty Capes" is pure De La Soul. Regal fanfare blasts pepper the jazz-infused production - it's effortlessly smooth, with the big brassy accents and gilt-edged beats adding rich depth. It feels classy and classic in every sense.
And The Anonymous Nobody is out via A.O.I. on 26 August.
