Whatley's newest documentary on Bowie acts as a follow up to the director's previous film David Bowie: Five Years which aired on the BBC in 2013. The newest film, David Bowie: The Last Five Years, chronicles and documents Bowie's final years and includes unseen footage, unheard audio interviews, and a moving, previously-unheard a cappella version of hit song "Lazarus".
The film airs on BBC Two on 7 January at 9pm according to the unofficial fansite David Bowie News; the BBC is set to officially confirm these dates in the coming days.
With the anniversary of Bowie's death looming, expect to see a lot of Bowie tribute on the TV and radio this January, including Bowie at the BBC, set to air on 13 January on BBC Four showing archive footage of live performances and interviews with the artist himself.
January is set to be a month celebrating Bowie's reverred personalities and music marking the first anniversary since his untimely death.
