David Bowie streams increased by 2822% yesterday
Streams of David Bowie's music rocketed up 2822% yesterday, Spotify have revealed.
Bowie sadly passed away following an 18-month battle with cancer on 10 January.
Spotify also revealed that the top five tracks during the day were "Heroes" (+ 3630%), "Let's Dance" (+ 3942%), "Blackstar" (+ 1120%), "Lazarus" (+ 1084%), and "Life On Mars?" (+ 4238%).
Tributes flooded in from across the world and all walks of life, including close collaborators like Iggy Pop and Tony Visconti, and the German Foreign Office, who claimed that Bowie helped "bring down the wall". Rough Trade announced that they would be donating all profits from sales of Bowie records to Cancer Research UK this month. Last night (11 January), hundreds gathered in Bowie's hometown of Brixton and sang tracks like "Life On Mars?" in the streets.

Bowie released his 25th and final studio record Blackstar on 8 January, his 69th birthday, as a "parting gift".
