David Bowie prepared "a long list" of releases before he died
Apparently David Bowie had a bunch of new music prepared for release prior to his death.
Newsweek are reporting that there is “a long list of unscheduled musical releases that Bowie planned before he died.”
According to their unnamed source, the releases are split into "eras", and they won't "necessarily be released in chronological order". There's no word yet on the possibility of unheard or unreleased music on these supposed releases, although Newsweek note that compilations from Bowie have tended to feature something new. The first compilation in this series is expected by the end of 2017.
A cast album for Lazarus, the off-Broadway musical by Bowie, is also in the works.
This might quench the thirst of fans who've pushed Bowie back to the front of the charts and been hitting repeat on his music.
Longtime collaborator/producer Tony Visconti said earlier this month that Bowie was planning a new record to follow up Blackstar, and had five demos ready.
Bowie's 25th and final studio record Blackstar was released on 8 January, his 69th birthday. He passed away days later.
