David Bowie collaborator Tony Visconti pens new letter to mark a year since the icon's death
Producer Tony Visconti has written at length about David Bowie to mark one long year since the death of the Starman.
Visconti, one of Bowie's longest and closest collaborators, has spoken multiple times about the icon in the months since he died, notably in the immediate aftermath of Bowie's death and when final LP Blackstar hit the top of the charts.
In his new letter, Visconti details finding out about Bowie's passing: "I was sound asleep in a hotel room in Toronto when my phone lit up around 2 am with texts every second. The messages were more or less the same thing – ‘David Bowie has died’, something I had been dreading for a year."
The legendary producer also discusses grief and working on Blackstar.
