Dave Matthews hitch-hikes to a Dave Matthews concert
Dinner backstage and front-row concert tickets: ample reward for two fans who helped stranded Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Dave Matthews get to his own show.
Lifelong Dave Matthews Band fan Emily Kraus had been driving with her boyfriend to the concert at the Hersheypark Stadium, Pennsylvania, when they pulled over to assist a man stood with his bicycle at the side of the road.
Evidently without his bike-repair kit, Matthews had gone for a pre-show ride, when he suffered a flat tyre. He had no cellphone either- something he would later recount through song, paying tribute to Kraus and her fortuitous bicycle rack.
“We didn’t know how to make conversation with him, in fact, so we were talking about his tour and where he had come from,” Kraus told Associated Press.
