Yesterday (9 December) Lingua Ignota's Kristin Hayter uploaded a statement detailing her allegations of "mental and emotional abuse and sexual abuse resulting in bodily harm" by Daughters' Alexis Marshall, who has since denied the allegations, saying he "absolutely did not engage in any form of abusive behaviour".

The detailed statement, shared on Lingua Ignota's Twitter last night (9 December), came shortly after a new video interview with the Needle Drop’s Anthony Fantano, which touched on her experience while discussing her August album Sinner Get Ready.

Lingua Ignota, real name Kristin Hayter, previously responded to a question about her relationship with Daughters vocalist Alexis Marshall on Twitter in October, calling him an "abuser" and addinng that the record was about her experience. She also added that she was "doing a lot of work to heal", and would give her full account in the future.

In the statement shared on Twitter last night (9 December), Hayter accuses Marshall of "mental and emotional abuse and sexual abuse resulting in bodily harm," and claimed his "addiction to one-sided sex effected me in extreme ways."

Pitchfork published a response from Marshall, provided by a representative for Daughters, which sees him deny the allegations, "I absolutely did not engage in any form of abusive behavior towards Kristin," Marshall stated. "Kristin is a person that I loved and cared deeply for, however, our relationship was unhealthy for both of us. I can assure anyone reading this that I absolutely did not abuse her, mentally or physically. I am investigating legal options."
