Dance music still selling well despite current economic crisis, says new report
According to the BPI, dance and electronic music are one of the only genres able to withstand the global economic climate.
A recent report says that dance music single sales are up almost 20%, while dance music albums rise to nearly 34% in 2013.
Dance music is responsible for one in six singles sold in the UK after artists like Daft Punk, Disclosure, Rudimental, Duke Dumont and more have been credited as helping dance music become a vital part of music sales’ survival in the UK.
BPI boss, Geoff Taylor revealed: “With so many memorable releases this year, not least Daft Punk’s iconic summer anthem, ‘Get Lucky’, dance music is well on its way to becoming one of the defining sounds of 2013. It’s drawing in artists normally associated with other genres, such as hip hop and dubstep. These fresh influences are giving 2013′s Dance music an edge which is really cutting through to fans.”
