Dana Gavanski releases new album opener "I Kiss The Night"
Dana Gavanski has unveiled her When It Comes album opener "I Kiss The Night" as the fourth preview of the record.
"I Kiss The Night" is the first track featured on Gavanski's new album, and follows previous singles "Under the Sky", "Indigo Highway" and "Letting Go". The new song is teamed with a Gaia Alari-directed video that is made up of over 1,700 hand-drawn frames.
Gavanski says of the single, "It’s an ode to the night, learning to lean in to its magic, and the spookiness of solitude in a winter storm."
When It Comes will follow Gavanski's 2020 debut album Yesterday Is Gone. Tunng and LUMP's Mike Lindsay mixed Gavanski's new album, which was started in Montreal, and recorded at London's Total Refreshment Centre.
Gavanski said of her second record in February, "In many ways this record feels like it is my first. When I could use my voice, I had to focus so there is an urgency and greater emotional trajectory than before… it’s very connected to vocal presence, which extended into an existential questioning of my connection to music. It felt like a battle at times, which I frequently lost."
