Damon Albarn working with Brian Eno, Nick Zinner & more on Africa Express album
Damon Albarn’s Africa Express, the charity project that sees Western musicians team up with their African counterparts, is set to release a new collaborative album; seeing a whole host of famous names signing up.
Speaking to The Guardian for a recent feature, the Blur frontman revealed that the likes of Brian Eno, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Nick Zinner, Ghostpoet, Tri Angle producer Holy Other and more have been in Mali recording new music for the release.
“The reason we are in Mali now is because of what’s happened here in the last year,” the project’s co-founder Ian Birrell is quoted as saying. “Malian artists are so brilliant. We wanted to come back as a form of solidarity and do the tiny bit we can do to promote the music that we love and revere.”
