Blur frontman Damon Albarn isn’t adverse to blurring the line of reality. Gorillaz were the world’s first “virtual” band, after all. But now he’s done something very few others have: performing a gig live for actual Japanese robots.
The solo set took place at Japan’s National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation earlier this week, with two androids in attendance. One, a lifelike female called Otonaroid®, reportedly “hummed along to the lyrics, and her expressions seemed to change when the melody would take a sad turn or during up-tempo parts of the songs”.
