Daft Punk achieve highest U.S chart position, reach UK third spot after just 48 hours
Daft Punk have certainly upped the ante since announcing new album Random Access Memories, but it’s been hard to tell whether the hype has matched demand. But just one look at last weekend’s sales figures certainly proves so.
The French electro duo dropped new single ‘Get Lucky’ as a surprise single last Friday (19 April) and managed to reach the UK Singles Chart third spot after a mere 48 hours of being on sale, becoming in the process Daft Punk’s first top ten single in the country since ‘One More Time’ in 2000.
‘Get Lucky’ fared equally well in the States also, achieving the band’s best ever charting: debuting at #20. This tops ‘One More Time’ and ‘Around The World’, both of which reached no.61.
