Daft Punk achieve first U.S number 1 album, second best first week sales of 2013
We can only presume all the marketing and promotional costs was money well-spent, as Daft Punk bag their first ever number one album in the U.S.
Random Access Memories, released last week, sold 339,000 copies Stateside, the second highest first-week sales. The French electronic pair trail only behind pop unit-shifter Justin Timberlake, who leads the way with The 20/20 Experience.
It sees a huge chart leap for Daft Punk, whose previous effort Human After All only made it to #95. Their classic 2001 LP Discovery, however, also only managed to peak at #44.
This news follows that of the pair earning their first UK number one album too, with The National coming in at third place in the UK Albums Chart.
